Corporate media engages in mass public deception as Congressman receives just a third of the questions given to Romney and McCain

Ron Paul was cheated for the umpteenth time last night, this time by CNN, as the corporate media once again engaged in mass public deception by advertising their spectacle as a “debate” when in fact it was nothing more than a staged punch and judy show.

CIA trainee Anderson Cooper directed just five questions at Congressman Paul as well as two half-questions, the answers to which he interrupted on both occasions.

In comparison, Mitt Romney fielded 17 questions and John McCain got 15, not including the time the two spent bickering with each other about their past statements.

Again, just as with the previous MSNBC debate and numerous others before it, Ron Paul was given less than a third of the questions as the other candidates. The primary definition of a debate is, “A discussion, as of a public question in an assembly, involving opposing viewpoints.”

Since Ron Paul is the only candidate expressing opposing viewpoints, the corporate media’s deliberate ploy to relegate, marginalize and restrict his opportunities to speak amounts to overt public deception. These farces should not be referred to as debates because they are merely PR stunts that are conducted with a deep-seated bias towards the establishment candidates.

As we have repeatedly emphasized, this is how frontrunners are created, this is how the establishment promotes its own candidates at the expense of others. The only solution is to continue to strike at the root of America’s corporate media monopoly by creating our own forms of media and eventually eclipsing their influence which, slowly but surely, is beginning to happen with the aid of the Internet.

Here’s the breakdown of Paul’s participation time courtesy of the Lew Rockwell blog.

Question 1 on the economy: 1:19 minutes

Question 4 on the environment: 0:41 minutes, because Anderson cut him short and assured him “2 minutes, in 2 minutes we have a question for you. I promise”

Question 5 on income tax rebates and “make work” schemes: 0:49 minutes
Question 11 on Sandra Day O’Conner: 0:09 minutes, I kid you not. Cut short by Anderson

Question 15* on McCain’s “100 years in Iraq” statement: 1:39 minutes (only question directly asked to Dr. Paul)

Question 18* on how X would handle the military as commander in chief: 1:50 minutes

Question 19* on a Reagan endorsement: 0:46 minutes

The highlight of the night came when Ron Paul slammed the punch and judy spat between McCain and Romney over Iraq, both of whom fully support endless occupation, with the Senator making it clear this week that a McCain presidency would mean more wars.

Perhaps it is time to create Huckabee-Paul ticket and combine the delegates. I am so sick of this Romney-McCain show.

  2. Davis Says:

Anderson Cooper was EXTREMELY RUDE to Dr. Paul. AC never kept the ‘PROMISE’ to ask Dr.Paul more questions.

  3. Charlie Dickson Says:

This is another example of a self-fulfilling, vicious circle that any long shot/3rd party gets trapped in. They get no face value, therefore are not allowed in debates, get no money, and therefore have no more face value…. Although I do not like Paul, this happened to Dennis Kucinich, which is why i think our country needs to reform our election process, to accommodate more than 4 (2 dem, 2 rep) viewpoints.

  4. Evan Says:

Maybe he should start addressing this while hes in the “debate” instead of letting them walk al over him. Address the behavior. Make it clear to who’s watching that this isnt right. I think he should he needs to stand up for himself more and more lately. We all complain about how hes treated yet he does nothing to for himself. we can bitch and complain here all we want but it doesnt change anything. We need to convey this to him so he understands that more needs to be done. He needs to be more proactive and attack the debate. make a stand. he needs to stand out like he once did.

  5. Chuck Says:

To CNN since you have stoped taking I-Reports about lasnt nights debates! Anderson Cooper, should be ashamed of him self along with CNN. The election coverage is neither fair are impartial . Each candidate should have had 20 minutes! Ron Paul was asked in the first half two questions and was cut short by Anderson after only a few words. Even Huckabee felt short changed last night. I know to nights debate will only be about trying your best to start arguments!

  6. hinsel Says:

Once again I am in a state of shock and awe at the debauchery propagated by our media driven government. Can the people of this country really be so blind ? Sadly, yes.

We will again and again consume the toxic dribble fed to us by the media who have done a stellar job of sweeping all the things they don’t want us to think about under the carpet.

I guess we’ll have to wait two years for someone to make a documentary about exactly how blindly we were lead around by our noses…by which time of course it will be too late.

    !!GOD SAVE AMERICA!!

  7. Jeff Says:

I can’t believe American citizens have become so ignorant not to notice what is happening during these debates.

There is no doubt that if “Ron Paul” is NOT a threat to monied interests in this country (in receiving their tax sponsored corporate welfare…..why would they decide to exclude him?

Obviously he is a threat to their free money & ability to then spend it with lobbyists to pass even more legistlation that benefits them directly.

If Ron Paul has such a low amount of support, why did the mainstream media have no problem pushing someone with no support (Guiliani was supposedly a wrapup for the Republican nomination !)

Democrats are exactly the same as most republicans these days. Bought & paid for.

  8. L. Step Says:

Well, I doubt if the fascistic corporate media are looking for the best way to support Paul, but it certainly helps to have shills like that creepy Anderson Cooper “moderate” a “debate”. My whole family, and a few in-laws, hearing from me earllier that Paul was being marginalized by the neocons, tuned in the California debate. They soon became were angry, sensing that that their right to know had been violated by a corrupted media. It was not long before the question of “Why” this was happening, and “Who” had it in their interest to silence Paul. If he doesn’t win, the others won’t win either. Our country will become ever more unstable, not only financially but politically — particularly as more body bags return from the Promised Land.

  9. carl Says:

If America puts a President in place that continues to send our citizens to die in other countries America obviously doesn’t get it that America will soon run out of living bodies to send to war. Also they will not get it that America is flat broke. Every time the American government prints more money the existing money is worth much less. As the American government keeps printing more money the existing money soon becomes so worthless that a gallon of milk will cost $100, a gallon of gas will cost $400 and (in terms they can understand)
a bottle of beer will cost $300.

The milk, the gas, the beer really doesn’t go up in price. The money goes down in value that’s why stuff costs more.

Don’t you get it folks America IS OUT OF MONEY. AMERICA IS FLAT BROKE!
Every country in the world is stopping lending America money. The ONLY WAY THAT AMERICA CAN CONTINUE TO PAY FOR
ALL THE WARS IN THE OTHER COUNTRIES WE ARE FIGHTING IN IS TO PRINT IT. EVERY TIME AMERICA PRINTS MORE MONEY
YOUR MILK, GAS AND BEER GO UP IN PRICE A FEW MORE PRINTINGS AND AMERICA WILL BE FORCED TO SHUT DOWN. THAT’S NOT STUPID TALKING STUPID THAT’S A FACT ………. WAKE UP!!!
IF YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND THE ABOVE COMMENTS YOU NEED TO QUICKLY FIND SOMEONE WHO CAN EXPLAIN IT TO YOU BEFORE YOU VOTE. IF YOU PUT A PRESIDENT IN THE WHITE HOUSE THAT CONTINUES TO GO TO WAR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY WILL VERY VERY SOON NOT HAVE A HOME OR FOOD TO EAT. LOOK CLOSELY AT THAT HOMELESS GUY HOLDING UP THAT SIGN ASKING FOR FOOD MONEY. I KNOW YOU DON’T BELIEVE IT BUT SOON THAT WILL BE YOU! MY GOD PEOPLE ARE YOU REALLY THAT CONFUSED?

  10. rightwingdog Says:

Ron Paul will never be our President.

Ron Paul would not save our country, he would make it worse.

If Ron Paul was such a fantastic Presidential candidate, why is he always at the bottom of the polls and 99% of caucuses, straw polls and primaries? Don’t tell me it is because he has been marginalized by the Neo-Cons. If anything he has been marginalized by himself.

He should take a que from Kucinich and back out gracefully.

    RWD

  11. katzero Says:

I don’t really support Ron Paul, and I he really doesn’t stand a chance, so I think that’s why CNN isn’t wasting their time on him.

  12. texson5 Says:

I have refused to vote in the last 4 elections because the people running
    are buffoons!!!

However, when I learned about Ron Paul running for the office of President of The United States of America I shouted hallelujah!!!
    I actually want to vote.

The sad thing is I do not see him winning because the people want
the song and dance presidents they have always had.

Maybe there are enough people in the land that we could just start
finding enough states to brake away from big government and take
back this country one state at a time.

I am ready to stand up and be counted!!!

    Are you?

  13. itsallerson Says:

Thank you so much for saying this.
I was watching the whole and screaming at the tv because they werent asking him anything.

  14. waltzingaustralia Says:

Are people just figuring out now that the media control what we hear? They’ve been doing it for decades. Actually, a century or more. As Oscar Wilde noted when he visited the United States more than 100 years ago, “In America the President reigns for four years, and Journalism governs forever and ever.” And even earlier, Thomas Jefferson wrote that “The man who reads nothing at all is better educated than the man who reads nothing but newspapers.” The media have presented biased stories since they came into existence.

  15. desemondez Says:

The title is a tad misleading; maybe it was just me but when i read the title I was under the impression Ron Paul cheated in the debate…

that said, this isn’t the first time we see the media giving it’s “chosen” candidates an unfair advantage, and it definitely won’t be the last too.

  16. Steve Hoyt Says:

I was totally infuriated watching the fiasco, the blatant misuse of freedom of speech as I sat and watched the absurd Republican Debate on CNN last night. It would have been nice to hear “all” of the candidates speak on the same question but Mr. Cooper kept cutting out Dr. Paul to let Mitt Romney and John McCain “duke it out” like two little kids fighting over who gets the bigger piece of pie!!! Just because those two are the front runners for the Republican nomination for the Presidency, what about the other two? There are a lot of people who think Dr. Paul is who and what we need to get this country back on track. I realize that Mr. Cooper is just like all the rest of the Media, be it T.V., newspapers, magazines and other news agencies, your told what to do for fear of reprisals and losing your so called “viewing audience”. What really put the icing on the cake was that Mr. Cooper downright lied in front of millions of people when Dr. Paul wanted to make a comment on the “conservative” point of view and Mr. Cooper promised and I say again PROMISED, that Dr. Paul would be able to speak on that issue in two minutes!!! Well, it never happened. Why? Because he was told not to let Dr. Paul comment. What’s bad about this whole situation is that, like all the rest of the media, he is a PUPPET and to add even more to the fire, he is also a bold faced LIAR!!!!! Those two observations make me want to puke!! Goodbye freedom of speech. Needless to say, I will never watch another T.V. program that has anything to do with CNN!! If Mr. Cooper has any decent bone in his body, he should apologize to the candidates for the fiasco and apologize to the viewing audience for the debacle that he was a part of Wednesday night.
    Downright travesty!!!!

  17. mradwin Says:

Ron Paul gets cheated out of everything of you think about it…the media hates him.
